World Environment Day – A Meaningful Day
A Meaningful Evening in the Auditorium of Rigpe Dorje Institute, Pullahari Monastery
On World Environment Day, early in the morning, our monks fanned out from the monastery to help clean up a nearby village as well as the Boudha Nath Stupa. They went round in small groups picking up litter and rubbish.
Hopefully, they will set an example to the villagers of keeping the environment clean and green.
In the evening, we held a lecture cum slide show in our auditorium at Rigpe Dorje Institiute with the objective of educating our monks on the significance of that day.

Monks are concentrating on the talk.
General Secretary Tenzin Dorjee sharing his view
They learned about environmental issues facing the earth such as forest destruction, global warming and air pollution and how these result in natural disasters such as droughts, floods and famines. Most importantly, they realized how mankind has mistreated the world so badly to result in such dire consequences.
How can I help to save Mother Earth? How can we help? That was what the monks of our monastery learnt that night: how they can, each of them play their part to save our planet, as well as a community.
Our teacher Mr. Wong Choong Cheong sharing his view
It was an evening well spent in learning about what we can do for our environment in order to save Mother Earth.
