We live in Thrangu Tara Abbey in Nepal. After His Holiness the Karmapa called us for the Environment Conference, we made an aspiration then that we would turn our nunnery into a paradise.

His Holiness’s vision that all monasteries and nunneries should take care of the Earth as part of our vinaya vow changed how we see the world.

We started by collecting every type of tree and plant sapling that we could find and planting them.

As a prayer of thankfulness and prayer of long life for His Holiness the Karmapa and for Thrangu Rinpoche, we would like to offer our garden’s flowers as a mandala offering.

All life on Earth is precious. We must always cherish it.

The earth is always taking care of us. Like a mother she only looks to give us what we need.

In turn, we should also give back to her.

Where possible, we must bring back Nature.

We must protect the environment.

And encourage all wildlife and biodiversity to grow.

May the teachings of all our gurus spread peace and joy everywhere.

May these photographs bring peace and joy to you.

Even if you start small, please protect trees. They are the source of air we breathe.

We want to thank the Earth for nurturing us, for nourishing us. She gives us everything we need. We cannot give up on the Earth.

an inspiration — thank you !
How beautiful! Thank-you, anis of Thrangu Tara Abbey for helping our Great Mother.
How wonderful that His Holiness has started this initiative.
May the seeds from your garden of compassion spread throughout the world inspiring others to mirror your wonderful work. Thank you for being models to us all of the beauties of devotion and manifested interdependence.
The flowers in your garden look happy themselves! His Holiness the Karmapa’s initiative is wonderful and so is what you are doing. I wonder what lay Buddhists might do to contribute – and/or learn more?
Lay Buddhists, including in the West, might consider joining and supporting Buddhist inspired environmental and social development groups, eg Karuna (in UK) or BODHI (in US, Australia). Also, getting these issues considered in your local dharma group; it’s not enough for Buddhists to be concerned about personal salvation. We need to consider other people, other species, and also future generations.
hi! Anis we are doing great job. hope it spread in the world.
