During teachings on the “Art of Tibetan Buddhist Meditation” in New Delhi today, April 22nd, 2011, His Holiness the Karmapa gave special notice to the fact that today is Earth Day.

He said that if people want to celebrate Earth Day, they should find a garden or a park where they can sit directly on the Earth and meditate with a sense of appreciation for all that she has given us for so long. If this is not possible, we can find the same connection with a plant, or even the petals of a flower. This would be a good way to celebrate Earth Day. He added, however, that every day should be viewed as Earth Day.

The teachings were organized by the Foundation for Universal Responsibility of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and will conclude tomorrow, April 23rd, 2011.
