This afternoon the Sangha members of Dharma Chakra Centre, Karma Sri Nalanda Institute and the lay community of Rumtek Monastery paid their condolences to the victims and survivors of the catastrophic earthquake that struck parts of Kham province in Tibet on the morning of 14th April 2010.

As  directed by His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorjee, Sangha members and the lay community recited Zangchod Monlam (Aspirational Prayer of Arya Bhadracharya), and the sangha members performed Khorwa Dongdrug (Overturning of Samsara’s Depth) and Changchog (Inscription-Ritual for the Deceased) for those hundreds of our fellow brothers and sisters who lost their lives. Prayers were also said for the speedy recovery of those injured and a world free of natural disasters.

Natural disasters such as earthquake is the outcome of the imbalance of natural elements, hence, we, under the directions of our root guru His Holiness the Karmapa, at Khoryug, as a network of Buddhist monasteries and centers in the Himalayas working together on environmental protection of the Himalayan region, have been once again reminded of our commitment towards our work of environmental protection.
